Job Title: Delivery Driver
Company: The Gardener Nursery
Location: Henrico, VA
Job Type: Part-time to Full-time

We are looking for a delivery truck driver to join our team. Job responsibilities will include driving box trucks and a gooseneck trailer and delivering plants from our nursery to various locations in Virginia, as well as loading and unloading plants from the delivery vehicles. This job will also potentially include equipment maintenance on-site at the nursery.

Our ideal employee is professional, able to communicate with our nursery team and clients, has a flexible schedule and works well in both team and individual settings.

Candidates must be able to lift 50 pounds. A Commercial Driver's License is preferred, but not mandatory. Ability to drive manual transmission is also preferred, but not mandatory.

Job Type: Wage Grounds Worker (29 hours weekly)

OFM operates and maintains approximately 4.2 million square feet of space at the Capitol Complex and throughout the metropolitan Richmond area, including office buildings, the State Capitol, the Governor's Mansion, and monuments.

Requirements:

  • High School or equivalent
  • Registered Technician Pesticide Applicator’s License desired
  • Valid Va fertilizer certification desired
  • Considerable knowledge of various plant materials and turf
  • Extensive knowledge in the mechanical use of landscape equipment
  • 5 years minimum in the landscape trade or related field desired
  • Snow and ice removal and cleanup experience
  • Able to lift 40 lbs.

Job Title: Nursery / Production Position

Company: James River Nurseries

Location: Ashland, VA


James River Nurseries is a full-service landscape company with ten to fifteen landscape crews and three to five hardscape crews. We do not sell to the public or re-wholesale plants to other nurseries or landscape companies.

Job duties would include but not limited to:


Assist our nursery team in all phases of nursery projects.

  • Unloading trucks, checking invoices for accuracy & plant quality.
  • Attend morning meetings to discuss lists to pull each day.
  • Pulling plants for landscape crews and counting lists for accuracy.
  • Running plant labels and tagging plants that arrive untagged and tagging sold plants for clients/jobs.
  • Counting plants for inventory.
  • Planting shrubs, perennials, and grasses in our growing facility.
  • Mostly quarts, 1 gallon, three gallons and some 7 and 15 gallons.
  • Tagging plants that are potted.
  • General nursery maintenance.
  • Fertilizing, watering, pruning, spacing, and weeding.
  • Covering and uncovering greenhouses – seasonally.
  • Building greenhouses when needed.
  • Maintain the grounds (mowing and some weed eater work).
  • IPM and some spraying.
  • Driving and caring for nursery equipment. (ATV, tractors, nursery trucks, loader, mowers, etc.).
  • Assist in maintaining Excel spreadsheets and Word documents.
  • Pick-up plant orders from other nurseries.
